Yoga and Weights Go Together Well!

I have been doing my yoga in the mornings on a pretty regular basis. I start out with Sun salutations and will move on to other poses from there.  When I get up early I strive for 12 reps of my Sun salutations.  It’s amazing how stretched out and good you feel after these reps.  Something new for me is playing yoga music while I do my poses.  I stream Pandora and have made a “Yoga” station.  I have been amazed how much more relaxed I get when I have the music on.  I use to have the news on and that is really a no no!  I don’t know why I didn’t think of playing the music before, I guess I was trying to multi-task and that is also a no no, lol!

After I finished my yoga I continued on to my weight training. At this time, I am using 10lb weights for biceps and triceps and 5lb weights for my shoulders and arms to the sides.  It is very important to do weight training, either using free weights at home or using the machines at a gym.  Keeping muscles strong protect your bones and nerves.

As we age, it’s imperative that we keep our muscles strong and healthy.  Women especially need good bone density and lifting weights should be part of your exercise program.
