I Ran The Monday Blues Out!

Monday morning and anticipation of Monday can bring on the blues. Don't let that happen to you.  Exercise is the key to fight the blues.  That's what I did today.  Woke up and knew I was not going to take any excuses from myself to not get myself out the door to do my running and backwards walking routine.  I walked a half mile, while catching up with my BFF on the phone then hung up with her and I was off.  My running felt strong and longer strides too. My routine right now is to walk fast More...

No More Slacking off Yoga or Strength Training For Me!

Wow! That is all I can say!  I have been concentrating on my running and walking backwards to shed pounds, which I have been pleased about,  but I have not been as faithful with my yoga and strength training as I should have been.  Looking in the mirror I can tell my upper body is not looking as strong as it was and as sculpted. This morning I did my yoga routine and it really surprised me how my balance was off and my strength was lacking.  It does not take long to lose what you have worked More...

Longer Stride, No Deer Prancing Now!

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday!  This morning I was able to fit in a quick 2 miler.  Wish I could have done 4 but I had a time constraint today.  Well, if I had gotten myself up 30 minutes earlier I could have, but I didn't and now I am not going to lament on what I could have done.  Only going to concentrate on what I did and be proud of it.  Two miles is better than none.  I needed this run too today.  Lots of stuff going on in my brain and I had to be able to keep it all straight. Believe In You!

Do you ever find that inquiring about employment or calling a store to inquire about a product can be intimidating or awkward? Asking "Are you hiring new employees now? or "Can you tell me how long your sale will run?" can be daunting and turn your stomach into knots. It can keep you from actually picking up the phone or walking into the place of employment.  It is very important to believe you have worth.  Everyone has something good to offer, it's a matter of believing in yourself and your abilities. More...

Shorter but Sweet

It's so important to fit in your exercise even when you are short of time.  Less is better than none!  Today I was able to fit in 3 miles of running with just a little backwards walking.  I find that I have to do at least some backwards walking as my hamstring is not completely healed.  Running, then add some backwards walking keeps my hamstring from becoming too painful to run.  Today I actually added a little running backwards, that is a little more challenging but something I want to work More...

Change Is Your Friend, Accept This Friendship!

Change can be your new friend, did you know that? Change means something different for everyone, but if you look at it as an opportunity, it can do wonderful things for you!  Change is a chance for renewing old ways,  altering old habits, or accepting new relationships.  Don't fear this powerful word. We all can get our selves out of whack when our plans change.  Don't let this send you into a tizzy.  Yesterday I had my day planned out and was suddenly hit with a meeting that was moved up More...

Pushing Myself Did The Trick Today!

When I woke up today I knew it was my "running day" but I really could have just taken a shower and started my day instead. I just didn't feel like exercising!  I am so glad I threw my work out clothes on and pushed my self out the front door and hit the pavement! Sometimes when you don't feel like exercising it is the most important time to do it.  My mind had to tell my body, "get over yourself and just push through it!" I have to admit, the first 2 miles were difficult, I felt some pain and More...

The Take-Away-Fat Fairies Visited Again!

My Spring Challenge is over, but my Fitness Journey has just begun!  I woke up today, after having thick crust pizza last night to a sheer joy of another vanishing pound on the scale!  Those Take-Away-Fat Fairies visited me again! Love those fairies! I have now lost a total of 7 pounds in 7 weeks  (on the scale!) While I use my scale as a gauge only, I know I have lost more than 7 pounds of fat, but it has been replaced with muscle gain and inches lost all over my body.  I didn't measure myself, More...

Want to Really go Forward? Try Going Backward!

Have you ever thought of adding walking backwards to your workouts? If you haven't, you should!  Walking or running backwards uses more energy,  which burns more calories.  I have incorporated walking/running backwards into my running workouts. I have been amazed how I am noticing differences with my ability to run better with  longer strides and my core is feeling stronger.  Plus, my weight loss and muscle gain have been surprising me. I  actually fit into a pair of jeans this week, which More...

An Interview with Mason Carter Harvey

Mason Carter Harvey is your typical average kid, except he was over weight and got tired of being bullied by the kids at school. He took it upon himself to lose 85 pounds in a year. He now has a healthy and active lifestyle and has made it his mission to encourage and motivate others. Mason: One of the last talks I had with my Papa Mike he told me, "if you're doing this much now, I have no idea what big things your future will hold" so I do hope that I can keep doing things and making myself More...
